Kenya is bordered by five countries, two of which have been plagued by years of conflict and civil war. As a result, the Republic currently hosts several hundred thousand Sudanese and Somali refugees who are being housed in two large camps - Kakuma in the northern part of Kenya's Rift Valley Province and Dadaab, in the North East.
Living away from home in a camp is not easy, but under the global direction of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), a number of humanitarian organisations are trying to make life better for the occupants. Most of their interventions are well received, but none more so than organised sport. Thanks to your generosity; Alive & Kicking has provided balls to both the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Kakuma and Care Kenya in Dadaab.

Alive & Kicking make cheap, tough, repairable footballs, netballs and volleyballs using African skills and African leather. Each carries a message about HIV/AIDS and malaria.
